Roger Beebe

The Film Studies Program at OSU congratulates Roger Beebe (Department of Art, Moving-Image Production major core faculty) on his recent promotion. We invite our students, fellow faculty and staff, and the film community of Columbus to attend Professor Beebe's Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday, December 13 at the Faculty Club (2nd floor). The talk is titled "Meaning and Material: Two Forms of Film Research."

This presentation explores the two poles of Art Professor Roger Beebe's film work: one focused on a material investigation into the basic properties of the medium of film, and the other a more essayistic practice concerned with the transformation of physical and mediated landscapes by the forces of global capital.

Each year, the Arts and Humanities celebrate faculty who have recently been promoted to the rank of professor by asking each to present a public lecture on his or her body of research or creative activity and current projects. All lectures are held at the Faculty Club, ABCD Rooms (2nd floor). Wednesday lectures are from 5-6:30 p.m., and Friday lectures are from 2-3:30 p.m. A reception will accompany each lecture. All are free and open to the public.
