Elizabeth Kolkovich researches and teaches English Renaissance literature especially connections between the past and present. She use feminist theories and methods from theatre and book history to investigate how scenes, characters, texts, works, and interpretations change over time. Her current passions are Shakespeare and the ways women shaped early modern literature through writing, reading, and patronage. Kolkovich is writing a book on masques in Shakespeare, editing poems by the wonderful Hester Pulter (for pulterproject.northwestern.edu), and researching the literary activities of women in the influential Stanley family.

Kolkovich's first book, The Elizabethan Country House Entertainment: Print, Performance, and Gender (Cambridge, 2016), was released in paperback in 2019. Other published work appears in edited collections and such journals as Shakespeare Quarterly, English Literary Renaissance, Shakespeare Bulletin, and Shakespeare. She won the Mansfield Campus Award for Outstanding Scholarship as well as several teaching awards, including Ohio State’s Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching.
